Review: The Man from Hong Kong (1975)

Not the best action I’ve seen, but definitely one of the best B-movie action movies I’ve seen! If you like James Bond, this one doubles it!

Australia/Hong Kong

Director: Brian Trenchard-Smith, Yu Wang
Stars: Yu Wang, George Lazenby, Hugh Keays-Byrne
Distributor: Umbrella Entertainment
Runtime: 106 mins

“Stick your head up you arse… and close it after you.”

A drug deal in Australia connects the Hong Kong special branch to send their best police officer to sort things out. And by God he does!

The director of the amazing “Turkey Shoot” has made a a fast-paced, one-liner throwing, kite-flying, explosive, ass-kicking, martial-arts-fighting, interracial love-making, car-chasing, excellent exterior filming fun-ride of a Bondsploitation/Brucesploitation/Carsploitation/Ozploitaion. This was an extraordinary fun watch! It has it’s flaws, it’s not perfect by far, but there’s so much coolness and hard hitting entertainment that you forget all about it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Now, this is a full packed Blu-Ray. Australian edition with fun extras including interviews, trailers, behind the scenes and audio-commentaries, trailers and more. And if that’s not enough, you have 3 of the directors documentary movies, and 2 other feature films. Can NOT be a better release than this!
