Review: Theatre of Blood (1973)

Finally a movie about discredited actors who get their bloody revenge over the critics!

“O, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth, that I am meek and gentle with these butchers.”

A revengeful theatre actor comes back, after he’s assumed dead, to kill everyone of his critics in a poetic way using his latest plays as a backdrop.

I just love Vincent Price! This is more a deep dark comedy, with elements of thriller. The ghastly and bloody deaths work fine within in the crazy and humerous plot. This is a very British piece of horror, and fits the playful era in which Price also gave us the thrill of the “Dr. Phibes”-movies. Recommended!
