Review: Angst (1983)

Brilliant, brutally, bloody, cold, minimalistic, realistic and original.

“That urge to torture a human, that’s one thing I never could get rid of.”

The main character is released from prison. The crazy psycopath goes right to a mindfucking killing spree. He finds a secluded house and starts terrorizing the family. At the same time we get to know his troubled past.

This was one hell of a distorted journey. Erwin Leder (“Das Boot”(1981)) plays the troubled ongoing psycopath. The camera moves along with him, and makes us feel as troubled and frightened as him. Fear drives his urges, and the cinematography and voice-over puts us in his place. Well made piece of madness that’s based on a true story. See it!
