JWD: Mosquito (1995)

Back in the movie-room again, cranking some Richard Gein, again- having a couple of beers left and just taking in….’Mosquito’…ho!!

Typical to start this ‘review’ of with a piss, ‘Ill Be Back’…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Shit, tink i’ll fucking crank some ‘Street Cleaner’ instade, man. Ok, there; let’s get down to business!!

This was a typical pauser movie, bro. You know; one of those movies that you really wanna get into, but you always have to take a piss or get your self another beer, you know. A THAT kinda movie! Feeling me? Feeling my naked body close to yours? Awww, fuck, enough bull; grow up Henrik! Based on the litte i read on this little ‘buzzzzer’, it’s seposed to be a kinda parody on the invasion kinda sci-fi_b’s of the 50’s and 60’s and i could kinda see that, but eh, not that much really,-didnt get much of that 50’s/60’s black & white feeling, but it gave of alot of other B-movie vibes, at least for me-tons really. What comes to my (drunken) mind; ‘The Living Dead-trilogi’, ‘Evil Dead’, ‘Critters’, ‘Arachnophobia’, ‘The Fly’, ‘Food Of The Gods’ ‘With Out Warning’, ‘The Beyond’ and also a litte Texas Chainsaw-ish. Know why? Because it stars the late legend Gunnar Hansen_original leatherface in ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ (1974)..and yes we will see him with a chainsaw…and a gray mullet. The cheese and cornieness is so present in this bitch, the characters are awkwardly overplayed and toungh_in_cheek-ish. The mosquitos look huge like fuck and really really unpleasant; we all hate bugs, esspecialy giant ones and there are thousands of them_which is coused by some kinda of alien spaceship, which couses some kind of meteor to fall down to earth and into some small lake some where on the American continet and makes livining things in there grow huge, though we see only the mosquitos, and yeah… they suck dude! It’s a mosquito apocalypse, somthing like that. It’s a fucks- -with-it-self movie and it’s memorable and charming with characters that you enjoy to follow and a nice ambient-synt-ish soundtrack. And the gore. Cool badass satireish gore, loads! Now; who’s out of beer? I am, and of to bed. Hope there’s no mosquitos!
