Review: Orgasmo (1969)

I like the 60’s sexy housewife feel of Carroll Baker, this is the third film in a row I watch with her…maybe I’m falling in love…

When Catherine West’s wealthy husband dies in a car crash, she moves into his luxurious villa in Europe. Suddenly her solitude gets interrupted by a young handsome man. With a lustful flame ignited between the two, Peter moves in. Not long after his sister, Eva, comes. The three are having a good time partying, and Caterine is enjoying her new existence. But as this is a Giallo things are not what it seems, and Catherine’s life turns into a living hell.

Umberto Lenzi’s early Gialli are slick and well directed, with funny little twists, and with the beautiful Carroll Baker in the lead. I’m having a good time. Not too many murders but a good and interesting focus on the characters. One of the pre-Argento Gialli that was a big box-office hit and got more people interested in this Italian made sub-genre. Love the final twist. Check it out!
