“Doctor Jekyll isn’t as faithful as he seems.”

The engagement party for Dr. Jekyll and his spouse Fanny Osbourne turns into a nightmare for their guests. A madman and a killer is loose and seems to be after everyone one in the vast victorian Jekyll mansion.

A slick and a bit chaotic story, loosely based on R.L. Stevenson’s novel. Borowczyk’s direction is beautiful as expected. Nicely lit and effectful filming, maybe a bit to blurry, mostly handheld. Good casted, especially Udo Kier/GĂ©rard Zalcberg as Jekyll and Hyde. An ok film throughout with an ending that made a definite impact.

The Arrow release is as always filled with everything you need to know, in addition to nicely done restoration. There’s enough for the fans to dig in for hours. Documentaries, short films and you name it…it’s in this box.
