Review: Stacy (2001)

In Japan it’s not good enough to blow the zombies’ brain out. You have to “repeat kill” them and chop them up in 165 pieces. The “Stacy-thrash” gets picked up on thuesdays and fridays.

“The only beautiful people left are the girls who are about to become Stacies”

In the near future, the entire world is struck with a bizarre malady that turn girls between 14-16 into zombies after a state of near death happiness. The government sets in their “Romero-troops” to catch these “Stacies”.

With loads of referances to George Romero flicks and “Evil Dead”(The “Romero-troops” and the chainsaw called “Bruce Campbells right hand 2”). I’m used to see overplayed Japanese actors, but this is absolutelly ridicoulus. And what’s the deal with all the forced laughing? The misplaced music gets me even more confused. Except for the gore and a scene with puppet theatre this was almost unbearable to watch. Horrible sound effects adds to my misery. This is without a doubt the poorest effort of a zombie flick I’ve ever seen. A point for the weirdness though. Thank God it ends with a universal message of love that touches my heart…NOT!
