JWD: Puppet Master 7: Retro Puppet Master (1999)

Liked this one a whole lot better then the sixth one. But let me warn ya’, it aint’ no slashy gore-movie.

Hold on will you, i’ll get my self, my last beer……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..There ya’, go! Thank you. Yes, this is really puppet master the begining (for Toulon). We are in Paris 1902 and a verry young puppet master (Toulon) takes in a three tousand Egyptic sorcerer who runs from three cheesy but, badass looking mummys dressed like the men in black. He is beaten half to death and Toulon takes him in and before he dies he become some sort of a mentor for him; leaving his crafts over till’ Toulon. The mummys (fullmoon-style), now go’s after Toulon to steal the magic powers back and ends up killing his friends with black magic (un-gory style) to get to the Puppet Master. To bad for the mummys, cos’ Toulon is now a fresh sorcerer and collects help from his killed off friends who comes back to life as his puppets who are more then willing to protect theire’ puppet master….you all know how loyal these puppets are (!!!).

This puppet flik had a nice atmosphere with an effective puppet-ish soundtrack, but i did miss the the ‘puppet Master’-main theme, it’s not included in this one. Most of the acting is overplayed and just bad, really (not the ancient sorcerer, he was cool) but that didnt’ bother me, the special effects, the creative camera work and the scenery in general did it for me. Oh, and the rich-girl of some sort who falls in love with Toulon is really hot…
