Review: Planet of the Vampires (1965)

It’s a certain charm in those psychadelic lit planets surrouned by smoke, and people in weird costumes and their 60’s hairdo.

– That’s what we have to find out, before it kills us all!”

During a tough landing on an unknown planet, the crew starts to turn against eachother. The crew from the first space shuttle finds the crew in the second murdered. Probably after killing eachother. A dark force is in control. They find another spaceship crashed on the planet with big skeletons in it. The dead crew suddenly comes back, and the struggle begins.

Couldn’t find any “vampires” in this crazy flick. But they are there on a mental level I guess. It reminded me of a cheezy version of “Alien”. Atmospheric, claustrophobic and eerie. Another great Mario Bava movie if you can handle the really bad 60’s FX and backdrops. Recommended!

The good quality of this BLU-RAY really bring forward the nice lightning and colours used.
