Criminal psychologist Dr. Herbert Lyutak is a deranged sex maniac who murders young women. His beautiful wife is tormented by visions of medieval torture and lesbian orgies. But as their madness grows more twisted, they will descend even deeper into a nightmare of dementia, depravity and most of all, delirium!

delirium1

I’m not quite sure if the delirium is Doctor Herberts murder-frenzy as an impotent guy or his wifes feverish dreams of surpressed sexuality. It includes some really nutty scenes.
And what the hell is happening at the end? What is the connection with these other women living in the house?

delirium7

An interesting psychological drama that would leave Sigmund Freud in a state of euphoria. Sex, sadism and lots of totally unnecessary characters. Still I was highly entertained by the main characters and the groovy prog-rock soundtrack.

Fun facts: The lead character is played by the bodybuilder-boyfriend of Jane Mansfield. He was later portraited by Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie about Mansfield.

The Blue Underground DVD is a nice treat as always. Including Interviews with both Director and Star Mickey Hargitay. It also includes to different version of the movie, to cut out a subplot or two. Have to see the other one as well…the next time…
